この記事では、南カリフォルニア旅行の際に役立つ一日の日程を提案します。特にサンタモニカエリアやロサンゼルスの西側を中心にしています。定番の観光スポットを取り入れつつ、地元の隠れた名所も紹介しています。日帰り旅行を想定しているため、ユニバーサル・スタジオ・ハリウッドやディズニーランド・アナハイムのような、1日かかるテーマパークは含まれていません。
In this article I give a breakdown of a potential day itinerary you may follow during your trip to Southern California. This is more tailored to the Santa Monica area or this side of LA in general. I tried to include some of the mainstream spots, but also some of the local gems. Because this is a day trip, I decided to exclude theme parks such as Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland Anaheim since those would be full day activities.
朝 - Morning
サンタモニカから少し距離がありますが、マリブで朝をスタートすることを強くおすすめします。マリブのビーチは静かで、どのビーチも美しいです。私のおすすめはブロードビーチですが、サーフライダーやウィル・ロジャース・ビーチも素晴らしい場所です。ランチには、マリブ・シーフード・フレッシュ・フィッシュ・マーケットをぜひ試してみてください。
Even though Malibu is a bit far away from Santa Monica, I would definitely recommend starting your morning here. This beach is quiet and each one is beautiful. I recommend going to Broad beach, but you can also check out Surfrider or Will Rogers Beach. A place you should try for lunch is Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market.
マリブのブロード・ビーチ
とても隠れたプライベートビーチで、静かな時間を過ごしたい方には最適です。もしビーチバレーをしたいなら、ここはあまり向いていません。ビーチハウスの前は岩が多く、砂浜も広くはありませんが、まるで自分だけのプライベートな空間にいるような感覚がとても魅力的です。高潮時には砂浜がさらに狭くなることがあるので、その点に注意が必要です。日光浴をしている人や、静かに本を読んでいる人もよく見かけます。駐車場は住宅地にあり、少し見つけにくいこともありますが、リラックスした静かなビーチを楽しみたいなら、ぜひ訪れてみてください。
Super hidden and private beach. If you are mainly looking for a space to play beach volleyball, this is not the place. It is a little rocky in front of the beach houses and has very little sand, but I love how it feels like your own private world. During high tide the sand area may shrink even further so beware. I always see people sun tanning and reading their books. Parking is a bit tough to find as it is in a residential area. If you’re into more relaxing and peaceful beaches, definitely check this out.
午後 - Afternoon
ビーチで十分に日光を浴びた後は、ゲッティ美術館を訪れることをおすすめします。ゲッティセンターとゲッティヴィラは異なる場所にあり、それぞれ異なる美的な特徴を持っています。ヴィラでは約1.5時間、センターでは1.5〜2.5時間を過ごすと良いでしょう。
After you have had enough sun and sand at the beach, I would recommend checking out the Getty Museum. You can go to the Center or the Villa. Just know that they are two different places with two different aesthetics. I would say you could spend 1.5 hours at the Villa and 1.5-2.5 at the Center.
ゲッティ・ヴィラとゲッティ・センター
ゲッティ・ヴィラはマリブの海沿いに位置し、ローマのスタイルのアートを展示しています。建物の設計は伝統的なローマ風で、庭園にはローマの像も展示されています。ヴィラの美しい庭園は、写真撮影をする人々に人気のスポットでもあり、まるでヨーロッパにいるかのような雰囲気を楽しむことができます。内部には素晴らしい像やアートもあり、ゆっくりと歩きながらその美しさを堪能できます。入場は無料ですが、駐車料金がかかることがありますので、注意してください。
The Getty Villa is by the ocean in Malibu and showcases more Roman styles with their architecture being more traditional. Their gardens also showcase Roman statues. The Villa has a lovely garden and I remember many people come here to take photos. It is a nice place to feel as if you are in Europe. The statues and art inside are also lovely and it is very nice to walk around. Entry to the museum is free, but you may need to pay for parking.
ゲッティ・センターは、ゲッティヴィラとは異なり、現代的なデザインの建物で、主に明るい色合いの外観をしています。その庭園はユニークな形状で、建物内を探索しながら、ロサンゼルスの美しい都市景観や高速道路の景色を楽しむことができます。センターはヴィラよりも広く、トラムでアクセスするのも楽しい体験です。センターでは多くの絵画や彫刻を展示しており、モネやゴッホなどの名作が並び、私は何時間もそのアートに浸っていたことを覚えています。また、センター内には小さなカフェもあり、チャイラテを飲んだことがありますが、個人的にはあまりおすすめしません。美術館の入場は無料ですが、駐車料金が必要なので、訪れる際はご注意ください。
The Getty Museum Center is different from the Getty Villa, but still beautiful with its own aesthetic. The Center is a more modern museum on the outside, but showcases old art pieces. The architecture here is mostly light colors and the shape of their garden is unique. You can also explore the many floors of their back building to get a beautiful view of the city and highway. Getty Center is definitely the larger of the two and the little tram you take up to the center is quite cute. The Center seems to showcase many paintings and will often have a new exhibit. Some of the art pieces they showcase are Monet and Van Gogh. I remember staring at paintings and statues for hours. They even have a small cafe inside, and I’ve only ever had the chai latte, but I do not recommend it. The museum entry is free, but you will have to pay for parking.
夜 - Evening
アートを堪能した後は、サンタモニカピアに向かってボードウォークを楽しんでください。ここから見る夕日は絶景で、素晴らしい写真を撮ることができます。夕方の海風とともに、リラックスしたひとときを過ごせます。夜になると、サードストリートプロムナードでショッピングや食事を楽しむことができます。特に、Kazunoriは小さな店ですが、美味しい手巻き寿司が楽しめるので、ぜひ立ち寄ってみてください。
After you have had your fill of art, go down to Santa Monica Pier for the boardwalk. You can catch the sunset here and some beautiful photos. At night, stroll along Third Street Promenade for some restaurants and shopping. Kazunori is a pretty small and yummy handroll place
サンタモニカピア – ルート 66 トレイルの終点
サンタモニカピアは、どの世代にも人気のある場所です。私は子供の頃、誕生日パーティーで訪れたことを覚えています。ボードウォークの乗り物に乗るためのチケットを購入できますが、若い頃は楽しかったものの、もしアドレナリンを求めているなら、ここの乗り物ではあまり刺激的な体験はできません。それでも、意外にも回転系の乗り物が多く、結構クルクル回るので、目が回ることもあります（特に乗り物酔いしやすい友達にはちょっと厳しいかもしれません）。私のお気に入りの場所は桟橋の一番端で、そこから歩いていくと、たくさんのストリートパフォーマンスやジュエリースタンドを見ることができます。サンタモニカピアの看板にスパイダーマンのように登っている人を見かけたこともあります！（LAではこういうこともよくあるなと受け入れています）。
Santa Monica Pier is a very popular location for all ages. I remember visiting here at a young age for a birthday party. You can purchase tickets to ride the boardwalk rides. They were definitely fun when I was younger, but if you are an adrenaline seeker, not many of the rides here will give you that stomach dropping feeling. They do have a surprising amount of spinny rides, so you may get quite dizzy (not so great for my friends with motion sickness). My favorite parts of the pier are at the very end. As you are walking down the pier you will see many street performers and jewelry stands. I remember someone climbing on the main Santa Monica Pier sign like Spiderman! (but I’ve just accepted that sometimes people in LA are like this).
ピアの一番端では少し静かになり、ボードウォークからはかすかな笑い声が聞こえてきます。素晴らしい写真スポットは、桟橋を歩いて行き、ボードウォークを背にした左側の下層デッキエリアです。ここでは、全体のボードウォークと観覧車を背景に、誰も写らない写真を撮ることができます！写真を撮った後は、ピアの端まで歩いていくと、もっと混雑しているかもしれません。右側は夕日を見るのに最適で、ピアの端に行くとイルカの群れを見ることができるかもしれません。私と友達グループは6月に行き、多くのイルカが泳いでいるのを見ました（赤ちゃんイルカも！）。
At the very end of the pier it quiets down a little, you still faintly hear the laughter from the boardwalk. A great picture spot is the lower deck area on the left side (if you are walking down the pier, facing away from the boardwalk). You are able to capture the full boardwalk and ferris wheel behind you, plus no people! After you take your photos walk all the way to the end of the pier, there may be more of a crowd here. The right side is great for watching the sunset and if you go to the very end you may just catch a pod of dolphins passing by! A group of my friends and I went during June and saw many swim by (even the babies!).
サードストリート・プロムナード ファーマーズ マーケット
このショッピングストリートがこんなに人気なのは、サンタモニカピアのすぐ近くにあるからだと思います。中学生の頃、ここがすごくクールだと思って、友達の誕生日ディナーをこの通りで開いたことを覚えています。食べ物やショッピングのスポットがたくさんあり、時間を過ごすにはぴったりの場所です。この通りには2つのエリアがあり、一方は整然としたモールがあり、もう一方は車が通らない広い道でショッピングが楽しめます。ここには多くのストリートパフォーマンスもあり、歩いていると生演奏を聴けることもあります。特におすすめしたいのは、土曜日の午前8:30から午後1時まで開催されるファーマーズマーケットです。新鮮な農産物（そして無料のサンプル）が大好きなので、よく訪れています。
I’ve always wondered why this shopping street is so popular, but I think it is a notable mention because it is right next to the Santa Monica Pier. I remember in middle school I thought this spot was so cool and having a friend’s birthday dinner on the street. There are a ton of places to eat and shop at so it’s a nice place to pass the time. This street has 2 sections, there is a more structured mall at one end, then a long wide street where cars do not pass for shopping. Again, there are a lot of street performers here so you might have live music playing as you walk down. I would like to call out the farmer’s market that occurs here on Saturday from 8:30am-1pm. I’m a farmer’s market lover for fresh produce (and free samples).
