クリスタル・コーブでのハイキング - Hiking at Crystal Cove
クリスタル・コーブ州立公園は、ニューポートビーチにあるカリフォルニア州の州立公園です。公園内には複数のビーチや崖があり、一般公開されています。クリスタル・コーブは、朝のハイキングにぴったりの場所で、難易度が低く、数時間で完了できるトレイルが多くあります。美しい海岸線や海の景色を楽しむことができます！もしハイキングが好みでない場合は、海岸には様々なタイドプールや入り江があり、そちらを探検することもできます。特に朝は混雑していないことが多く、静かな時間を楽しめます。公園は午前6時に開園しますが、複数のトレイルがあり、それぞれ長さが異なるため、自分のコースがどれくらい時間がかかるか事前に調べて、午前10時から11時の暑くなる前に出発することをお勧めします。駐車場は有料ですが、そのためビーチでくつろいでいる人はほとんど見かけません。静かな体験ができるのもこの公園の魅力です。
Crystal Cove State Park is a California state park located in Newport Beach. It consists of multiple beaches and cliffs that are open to the public. Crystal Cove is a great place to spend your morning going on a hike, as many of them are low in difficulty and take a few hours to complete. You can expect great views of the shore and ocean! If hiking isn’t for you, there are various tidepools and coves on the shore to explore. Crystal Cove is rarely crowded, especially on a morning, meaning you can expect a peaceful time. The park opens at 6 AM, but as there are multiple trails with different lengths, I recommend doing research in advance to see how long yours will take and heading out before 10 to 11 AM when it gets hotter. You do have to pay for parking, but this barrier means that you will rarely ever see people lounging on the beach, leading to a quieter experience.

At lunch time, do expect a decent wait, but the low prices and high-quality food are worth it. Furthermore, there’s no need to worry about getting a table; in the worst case you could grab take-out and eat by the beach. You’ve probably heard about how good In N Out is already, so there’s no need to go into detail. Be sure that you give it a try when you visit!
ニューポートビーチでのカヤック - Kayaking at Newport Beach

After getting lunch, head over to Newport Beach to go kayaking. Along the streets, you’ll likely find dozens of different equipment rental stores, most of which are all good picks for getting gear. If you want a bit more difficult solo experience, I would also recommend trying paddleboarding! If it’s your first time, be prepared to potentially fall into the water a few times. Kayaking is a bit more peaceful and can be enjoyed with two or three people in a single kayak, or you can go solo as well. No matter what you decide, traversing the docks of Newport Beach while observing the waterfront houses, megayachts, and lounging in the sun is a great activity. As Southern California is known for its amazing beaches, you can’t find the same experience at many other places in the US! With kayak rentals, you have the option to go as intense or relaxed as you want– it all depends on who you’re sharing with!

If you walk the shoreline, you’ll probably see Watertable, a restaurant with a great view of the beach. Serving traditional American dishes, this restaurant is the perfect place to grab a steak or seafood dinner. However, with a long list of shareable plates, appetizers, and drinks, you’ll likely be able to find something for the entire group. I recommend grabbing a reservation beforehand, as patio seats gazing over the water (and generally any seats) are likely to be taken during dinner. After a long day at the beach, take this opportunity to sit down and reminisce over a glass of curated wine (or mocktail)!

Seaside Donuts Bakery is an iconic spot among Orange County locals. As the store is located right on the shore and is open 24/7, you’ll often see them packed even late into the night.
